Music industry focus of BYU Education in Zion lecture Nov. 7

Ron Saltmarsh, a professor in the School of Music at Brigham Young University, will share his experiences in a lecture, “In the Music Industry, But Not of the Music Industry,” Wednesday, Nov. 7, at noon in B192 Joseph F. Smith Building, the “Education in Zion” exhibit auditorium.

In the lecture he will discuss how BYU music graduates can pursue their chosen careers while still maintaining their moral compasses. His address is hosted by the “Education in Zion” exhibit. Admission is free, and the public is welcome.

Saltmarsh has composed music for the country band Diamond Rio, including the song “One More Day.” He has also composed music for the A&E program “Biography” in addition to music for SEGA games and “Good Morning America.”

He received both his undergraduate and master’s degrees from BYU and also performed with the Young Ambassadors during his tenure at BYU. He is now a multi-award winning composer, producer, arranger, engineer, performer and studio musician. Saltmarsh has taught at BYU’s School of Music since 2011.
