BYU student broadcast team named top student newscast

The BYU Daily News, Brigham Young University's student news broadcast, has been named the best student TV newscast in the nation by the Broadcast Education Association. BYU's team will be honored Friday, April 18th, at the Annual BEA Festival of Arts Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas. more

BYU Ad Lab wins national L'Oreal Brandstorm Competition

The Brigham Young University Ad Lab has won the national finals of the L'Oreal Brandstorm competition for the second year in a row.

A team of Ad Lab students, Blake Hadley, Matt Miller and Monica McGhie, were named national winners Friday, April 11, in New York and will now compete this June in the international finals in Paris. The BYU team also won "Best Communications Campaign" in the contest.

The Art of Photography Show, an International Exhibit

Exhibition includes work of Paul Adams, professor of photography at BYU.

The Art of Photography Show, an international exhibition, will open April 25, 2008 with the Opening Reception Gala and Awards Ceremony, a free public reception, from 6 to 9 p.m.  This world-class photography exhibit will run April 25 to May 23, 2008 at the elegant Lyceum Theatre Gallery , located in San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter. Approximately 20,000 people are expected to view the Show during the four-week run. more

New directors for BYU Wind Symphony, Cougar Marching Band

The Brigham Young School of Music has announced two new appointments in its bands division.

Donald Peterson, long-time director of athletic bands and the Symphonic Band for the school, will assume directorship of the BYU Wind Symphony upon the retirement this year of David Blackinton. Fred McInnis has been appointed director of athletic bands, with responsibilities as director of the Cougar Marching Band, the Men’s and Women’s Pep Bands and the two University Bands.

Pixar president praises BYU animation program at premiere of latest short film

The president of Pixar lauded Brigham Young University's animation program after he delivered a speech at the university Thursday.

"Over the years, Pixar has worked with a lot of different universities around the country and hired people," said Ed Catmull, who is also president of Walt Disney Animation Studios. "One of the interesting things is, all of a sudden, in the last few years, we found that BYU has risen to the top. BYU has an extraordinary program here."
