Performing Groups The Percussion Ensemble allows performers to take on a different role in a chamber music setting that takes them from the "back of the ensemble" to the very front. Students explore subtle timbre colorings while developing their abilities to perform in melodic, harmonic and textural settings to create a new music experience for their audience that is as enjoyable to watch as it is to hear.
Performing on instruments made from 55 gallon barrels, BYU's Panoramic Steel is a unique ensemble which focuses on the music of the Caribbean. In addition to performing calypso and soca style music, this group has ventured into other popular styles of music including music by Beethoven and Liszt as well as new compositions by Andy Narell and Gary Gibson.
