Beloved Golden Age Musical Showcases Human Connection Through Humor and Song
Brigham Young University’s Department of Theatre and Media Arts presents “She Loves Me,” a romantic musical comedy directed by Geoffrey Reynolds.
Written by Joe Masteroff, “She Loves Me” features music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, the celebrated duo behind “Fiddler on the Roof.” The story follows Georg and Amalia, coworkers in a chic European perfume shop who cannot stand each other. Unbeknownst to them, they have also fallen in love as anonymous pen pals.
A classic from Broadway’s Golden Age, “She Loves Me” combines wit, elegance and heartfelt charm to tell a story that continues to captivate audiences. The musical’s enduring appeal has inspired multiple film adaptations, including “The Shop Around the Corner” and “You’ve Got Mail.”
With its lush score, dazzling choreography and timeless exploration of human connection, “She Loves Me” invites audiences to escape into a world where enemies fall in love and love letters bridge the gap between hearts.
