Pat Debenham to escort the audience through the journey of eviDANCE

eviDANCE brings changes to the stage this year with Pat Debenham, a former faculty of BYU dance department, escorting the audience through the discovery of five BYU dance groups on Sept. 18- 21.

“He’s going to play a role of a little man that goes through this production, discovering different forms of dance and how dance relates to all of us,” said Curt Holman, associate chair of the dance department and artistic director of the show.

This year, the theme of eviDANCE will evolve around four sets: dance transports, dance elevates, dance intrigues and dance delights. The Ballroom Dance Company, Living Legends, Contemporary Dance Theater, Theater Ballet and International Folk Dance will come together to showcase their talents in one show.

Holman said eviDANCE is unique because it provides a variety of genres of dances to satisfy the taste of different audiences.

“There’s something for everybody so you may not know about ballet, but you see a little bit of ballet, a little bit of ballroom dance, a little bit of folk dance–it’s a lot of variety,” Holman said. “It’s exciting, it’s fast-paced, and just keeps moving. There are some real fun surprises that we don’t want to share. We would like you to come and see and explore it together.”

eviDANCE will take place from Wednesday to Saturday, Sept. 18-21, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall. There will also be a Saturday matinee show at 2 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online or at HFAC ticket office.
