Classical 89 will air the Utah Symphony’s most recent “Salute to Youth” concert at 1 p.m. on New Year’s Day and at 2 p.m. on Jan. 6. The concert was originally performed Oct. 2, and the broadcast will include host Mark Wait’s interviews with some of the young soloists. The broadcast can be heard on 89.1 FM, 89.5 FM or online at classical89.org/streaming.
Tuesday, Jan. 8
The BYU School of Music will present a faculty artist recital featuring Robin Hancock on the piano. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center. Admission is free.
Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 10-12
The Young Ambassadors will perform “The New American Songbook” in the de Jong Concert Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center, at 7:30 p.m. The group will also perform a matinee show Saturday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. in the same location. The Young Artists of Voice Competition, featuring BYU’s top student vocalists, will be held each night at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center. Frederica von Stade, Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano, will adjudicate the final round of the competition. Admission is free.

BYU’s faculty jazz quintet Q’d up will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center. Admission is free.
Friday, Jan. 18
One of the most beloved musical figures of our time, Frederica von Stade, Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano, will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center. BYU faculty artist Leann Morgan, violin, will perform an electronic music concert with visiting composer Richard Karpen of the University of Washington’s Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Music. The Department of Theatre and Media Arts will present William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in the Pardoe Theatre, Harris Fine Arts Center, at 7:30 p.m. Performances on the evenings of Jan. 23 and 24 will be dress rehearsals, and a matinee performance will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. No performances will be held on Sundays or Mondays.
