BYU presents Nashville-style Songwriter's Showcase Dec. 2

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents the popular Songwriter's Showcase Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The performance is free and the public is welcome to attend.

'Traditionally, there is a lot of energy at this concert,' said showcase director Ron Simpson. 'There is a level of enthusiasm and suspense for the writers getting to do something of this magnitude. Individual writers are free to choose their own styles, so virtually all pop-related styles of music will be represented.'

Simpson said the lively showcase will feature the class work of students in a songwriting class. Some students will perform their own works, while others will present collaborations.

'The event is modeled after songwriter showcase events in New York City, Los Angeles and Nashville,' Simpson said. 'People come to feel part of the vibe.'
