Professional singer, BYU alumnus Nathan Pacheco to perform at BYU Spectacular

As a freshman at Brigham Young University, Nathan Pacheco attended a fireside and heard Elder Jeffrey R. Holland talk about the importance of pursuing and holding onto dreams – and then never giving up.

The message resonated with the young man who had just auditioned for and had been accepted into the Men’s Chorus. The 33-year-old singer followed his dream and today performs as a professional vocalist who has traveled with Yanni, records with the Disney Pearl Series label and was featured in a PBS special called “Introducing Nathan Pacheco.”

The rising star will be featured during BYU Homecoming 2013 as a guest artist for BYU Spectacular Thursday and Friday, Oct. 10 and 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Marriott Center.

Tickets for Spectacular are available at byutickets.com or by calling 1-800-322-BYU1 or 801-422-BYU1. Tickets are $14 above the concourse and $20 and $25 below the concourse. Alumni can qualify for a $5 discount Thursday by putting the word TRUEBLUE in the promotion box, and students can get two tickets for $10 above the concourse Thursday night.

The evening, which follows the 2013 Homecoming theme, “A Season for Courage,” features several of BYU’s top performing groups, including Young Ambassadors, Living Legends, Women’s Chorus, Wind Symphony and Cougarettes. Also planned is a special tap dance number.

Pacheco, who also studied music in Brazil, has become fluent in English, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish, was most recently seen by Utah audiences at the Pioneer Day celebration in Salt Lake City and during Music and the Spoken Word.
