Dean Search on for College of Fine Arts and Communications

<strong>In a recent letter to faculty, staff and administrators, Academic Vice-President Brent Webb announced the end of Dr. Stephen M. Jones' tenure and launched the search for a new dean:</strong>

Dean Stephen Jones’ terms as Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communications will conclude summer of 2015. In his role as Dean he has provided outstanding leadership and has been an important voice on the Deans Council. We thank him for his excellent service and dedication to the University. The administration is now ready to begin the search for a new dean. The search committee will be chaired by Associate Academic Vice President Alan Harker and will include the following faculty members:

You are invited to submit memos of nomination to any member of the committee or to Alan Harker in A376 ASB, e-mail: alan_harker@byu.edu. You are also invited to meet personally with a member of the committee if you prefer. Applications from candidates are welcomed and may be submitted to the committee chair or any of the members. Once the committee has gathered and reviewed materials concerning all potential candidates, it will submit a list of three or four names for consideration. The selection of a dean is one of the most critical decisions that is made at a university. The dean represents the faculty, the staff, and the students to wide and diverse constituencies, both inside and outside the university. A dean of vision and strength can have an important effect on the development of a college and its members. You are invited to send your memos or make your personal contact with members of the committee before Monday, December 15, 2014. It is important that initial nominations and contacts be made within this time frame so that the next phases of the search can be undertaken as soon as possible.
