Celebrate Veteran’s Day with Tony-Nominated Derek Klena and BYU Wind Symphony

Broadway Star Derek Klena Comes to BYU to Perform with BYU’s Wind Symphony for Veteran’s Day

The BYU BRAVO! Professional Performing Arts Series presents a patriotic performance featuring Tony-nominated vocalist Derek Klena, who will perform alongside BYU’s Wind Symphony for Veteran’s Day.

Klena is known for originating the leading role of Dmitry in the Broadway production of “Anastasia” and won the Audience Choice award for Favorite Replacement as Christian in “Moulin Rouge.” He also starred as Fiyero in the 10th anniversary company of “Wicked” and played Michael in the original Broadway cast of “The Bridges of Madison County.”

The BYU Wind Symphony, directed by Shawn Smith, is composed of students playing woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. The group is BYU’s premier wind band and has toured to over 25 countries. The Wind Symphony has the extraordinary opportunity to perform with Klena in this noteworthy performance honoring veterans.

“This will be a very special concert,” says Lyndsay Keith, the producer of the BRAVO! Series. “Derek Klena is an incredible singer and we're thrilled to have him as our guest vocalist. We are also grateful for the participation of Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson, who will be our featured speaker. Veterans and their immediate families are invited to attend free of charge!””
