Communications, Public Relations Major from April 2025

I had no idea what PR was when I arrived at BYU. I was going the pre-advertising or journalism route when I met with one of the professors in the PR department to interview for a study abroad in Italy and Austria. During that conversation, I was thrilled to learn that PR was a combination of sorts of the two majors I was debating between. I joined the PR students that summer as the only one not declared as a PR major.

On our first full day in Rome, I sat in a pizza restaurant waiting for my lunch when the professor on the trip approached me and asked what I thought. It was midday, and I was hungry and tired from our productive day. But I was so fulfilled and happy with the content I was gathering and the assignments I had for that summer. I enjoyed every moment of it and knew that this was going to be fulfilling for me.

I am so glad I went on that study abroad and then chose to apply to the major. So many doors have opened for me, and I am very grateful for all the amazing individuals that I have met through the program.
