Tiffany Austin

What is your current position and role?

Operations Manager at a Private Real Estate Equity Firm, TableRock Capital. I worked for BYUtv in college and then when I graduated I got a job at Wells Fargo as a financial advisor. I then moved to Fidelity Investments for 3 years. When I had my first baby, I stopped working to raise my 5 kids. I just barely went back to work 4 years ago and I work part time. I also substitute teach at my kids' schools.

When did you know you wanted to study communications?

I didn't decide until I had taken my generals. I really wanted to be a sports reporter and took a sports reporting class and ended up working for BYUtv. I did sideline reporting and helped in the truck with the production of each game.

When do you get most excited about your work?

I love when we close a deal on a new project. It feels good to wrap everything up.

What is a favorite memory at BYU?

Meeting my husband for sure, but in regard to my major, I got to meet Matt Leinart when he was playing football at USC.

How has your comms background influenced your path?

I know the Lord directed me down the BYU sports broadcasting path because while working on the sidelines of a BYU lacrosse game, I met my husband. I interviewed him for a story I was working on and when I saw him at his next game, we exchanged numbers and started hanging out. We've been married almost 20 years, with 5 kids ages 14, 13, 13, 10, 5.

How has your comms education helped you to share the light and hope of Christ?

Just being able to go to BYU was amazing and I am hoping and praying my kids decide to go there as well. I loved being able to pray and have religion classes and just immerse myself in education and the gospel. I'm so grateful for my time at BYU.
