Toggle ItemWHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMMENCEMENT AND CONVOCATION?
Commencement is the university-wide event honoring all graduates. BYU’s 2026 commencement ceremony will take place in the Marriott Center on Thursday, April 23, at 10:00 a.m.
Convocation Convocation is the ceremony in which individual graduates are recognized by name, walk across the stage and receive congratulations from administrators in their department or college.
Because of the size of our college and number of graduates, the College of Fine Arts and Communications will hold three separate convocation ceremonies on Friday, April 24, 2025.

Toggle ItemWHEN AND WHERE WILL CFAC CONVOCATION CEREMONIES TAKE PLACE?
Because of the size of our college and number of graduates, the College of Fine Arts and Communications will hold three separate convocation ceremonies. All three CFAC convocations will take place on Friday, April 24, in the Music Building Concert Hall, according to the following schedule:

Toggle ItemWHERE DO I PARK?
See a map of BYU parking lots here. There is limited parking at the Music Building (lot 27A). Other nearby lots include 26V, 26A, 26G, 8A, and 2A. Please allow yourself extra time to navigate traffic and find a parking spot.
ADA Access
Convocation Guests:
- For convocation attendees who need ADA parking and/or assistance, please use the A lot on the north side of the Music Building. An ADA drop-off location will be clearly marked, and the eastern edge of the lot will be entirely reserved for ADA parking.
Graduates
- ADA drop-off for graduates will be in the A lot on the west side of the Music Building.

College of Fine Arts and Communications December 2025 graduates, and finalized applicants for April 2026, June 2026, or August 2026.

Toggle ItemWHAT IF I MISSED THE DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR APRIL 2026, JUNE 2026, OR AUGUST 2026 GRADUATION?
Promptly contact the College of Fine Arts and Communications Advisement Center by calling 801-422-3777 or by coming to our 1190 WCCB office location during business hours to schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to determine if it is still possible to apply and graduate.

Toggle ItemIF I AM PARTICIPATING AS A GRADUATE IN THE 2026 CFAC CONVOCATION, AND MY SPOUSE, SIBLING, OR OTHER FAMILY MEMBER IS GRADUATING AT THE SAME TIME IN ANOTHER COLLEGE AT BYU, CAN WE BOTH “WALK” IN MY CFAC CONVOCATION?
Due to strict seating limitations, CFAC graduates hoping to be joined by a spouse, sibling, or parent graduating from another College must come into the Fine Arts and Communications Advisement Center as soon as possible (1190 WCCB) to make a request. Please note that additional tickets and in-person seating will not be available for non-CFAC graduates participating in a CFAC convocation ceremony, and only overflow seating is guaranteed for additional guests. Non-CFAC graduates will be recognized by name on stage, but their major and degree will not be acknowledged. You may choose to check with the other college to see if walking with them would be more accommodating for you and your guests.

The following viewing options are available to make the College of Fine Arts and Communications convocation ceremonies accessible for as many graduates’ guests as possible:
- Attend live in the new Music Building. Limited, e-ticketed seating is available in the Concert Hall and additional overflow seating will be available in adjacent venues.

- Guests of all graduates will need tickets in order to attend in person. Ticketing information can be found below
- Comms: watch for an email on March 18; Claim your tickets beginning on March 25
- Music, Dance, TMA: watch for an email on March 18; claim your tickets beginning on March 26
- Art, Design: watch for an email on March 18; claim your tickets beginning on March 27

9:00 a.m. Convocation: School of Communications
- If you are graduating from the School of Communications, you will be eligible to claim 3 tickets for your guests to attend the 9:00 a.m. convocation ceremony in the Concert Hall. Here’s how to claim your tickets:
- Watch for an email on March 19 from the College of Fine Arts and Communications Advisement Center (cfacadvise@byu.edu). It will contain a unique promotional code that you will need to enter in the ticket portal site in order to claim your 3 tickets. Note: the promotional code itself is NOT your ticket.
- Claim your tickets beginning on March 26. Go to this site on or after March 26 and enter the promotional code you received in your email. Follow the instructions on the site to redeem the e-tickets for your guests. Please note that YOU must request the tickets, and you MUST transfer them to your guests. Your guests will not be able to attend the ceremony if their tickets are still sitting in your account.
12:00 p.m. Convocation: Music, Dance, and Theatre & Media Arts
If you are graduating from the School of Music, the Department of Dance, or the Department of Theatre and Media Arts, you will be eligible to claim 4 tickets for your guests to attend the 12:00 p.m. convocation ceremony in the Concert Hall. Here’s how to claim your tickets:
- Watch for an email on March 19 from the College of Fine Arts and Communications Advisement Center (cfacadvise@byu.edu). It will contain a unique promotional code that you will need to enter in the ticket portal site in order to claim your 4 tickets. Note: the promotional code itself is NOT your ticket.
- Claim your tickets beginning on March 27. Go to this site on or after March 27 and enter the promotional code you received in your email. Follow the instructions on the site to redeem the e-tickets for your guests. Please note that YOU must request the tickets, and you MUST transfer them to your guests. Your guests will not be able to attend the ceremony if their tickets are still sitting in your account.
3:00 p.m. Convocation: Art and Design
If you are graduating from the Department of Art or the Department of Design, you will be eligible to claim 6 tickets for your guests to attend the 3:00 p.m. convocation ceremony in the Concert Hall. Here’s how to claim your tickets:
- Watch for an email on March 19 from the College of Fine Arts and Communications Advisement Center (cfacadvise@byu.edu). It will contain a unique promotional code that you will need to enter in the ticket portal site in order to claim your 6 tickets. Note: the promotional code itself is NOT your ticket.
- Claim your tickets beginning on March 28. Go to this site on or after March 28 and enter the promotional code you received in your email. Follow the instructions on the site to redeem the e-tickets for your guests. Please note that YOU must request the tickets, and you MUST transfer them to your guests. Your guests will not be able to attend the ceremony if their tickets are still sitting in your account.

Toggle ItemCAN I PURCHASE ADDITIONAL TICKETS FOR ADDITIONAL GUESTS?
Due to the number of graduates and guests anticipated for our ticketed convocation ceremonies, it will not be possible to purchase additional guest tickets beyond those allotted for each graduate. However, ample seating with HD live stream will be available in adjacent venues within the music building to accommodate guests without tickets.

Toggle ItemI’M HAVING TROUBLE ACCESSING MY TICKETS. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
The BYU Ticketing box office will be open for one hour prior to each convocation ceremony. If you’re having issues accessing your tickets, please arrive early and someone in the box office will assist you.Please note that this is only for those who have received tickets from their graduates. If your graduate has not obtained tickets for you, you can view convocation via livestream at convocation.byu.edu.

Toggle ItemWILL THERE BE A PRINTED PROGRAM FOR THE COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS AND COMMUNICATIONS CONVOCATIONS?
In-person guests at College of Fine Arts and Communications convocation ceremonies can view and download a PDF of the convocation program here when it becomes available, or via QR codes that will be posted throughout the venue. Additionally, graduates will receive two printed commemorative programs during the convocation ceremony itself.

Toggle ItemWHAT IF I’M A MEMBER OF THE MEDIA OR ANOTHER BYU ENTITY?
Please remember that convocation is a closed event. If you are a part of any news media or other BYU entity, you will be asked to check-in at a media table which will be located outside of the BOX theatre on the second floor near the North Entrances of the Music Building.

Toggle ItemWHERE AND WHEN DO I NEED TO MEET FOR CONVOCATION?
Graduates should report to the 1st floor loading dock of the Music Building no later than 1 hour prior to the start of convocation. Graduates should enter the Music Building through the southwest dock door, which will be marked with a canopy. There is a drop-off zone along the south side of the Music Building. ADA drop-off is available in the small parking lot on the west side of the building.
