Dance Devotional Assembly Today at Marriott Center

The Annual Dance Assembly is this Tuesday, October 28, at 11 a.m. in the Marriott Center at Brigham Young University. Five performance companies–The Ballroom Dance Company, Living Legends, Theatre Ballet, The International Folk Dance Ensemble and Contemporary Dance Theatre–will present a variety of performances focused on the theme “Into the Mountains.”

The theme is based on President Kevin J. Worthen’s recent inauguration speech in which he focused the Mormon pioneers heading west to the mountains in search of refuge, along with the current need to learn and grow while here in the mountains at BYU.

The five performance companies include several members of the College of Fine Arts and Communications, the college that resides in the Harris Fine Arts Center (HFAC). The HFAC is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary, with the theme, “From this Place into all the World.” Although the five performance companies will be performing on campus, their influence and legacy can be traced around the world.

President Worthen will provide a live introduction, and Rodger Sorensen, an associate professor of theatre, has recorded a narration for the program. The assembly is free, and audiences can look forward to the diverse display of talent among these BYU performing groups.
