Megan Sanborn Jones honored with Alcuin Fellowship

Theatre and Media Arts professor Megan Sanborn Jones was honored at the 2012 Annual University Conference with the Alcuin Fellowship. The Alcuin Fellowship award recognizes teacher-scholars who have gone beyond the regular limits of their disciplines and made significant contributions to the general education and honors curriculum.

Jones is the coordinator for the Theatre Arts Studies program at BYU. She teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in theatre critical studies. Committed to the BYU Theatre Arts Studies program, Jones received both her BA and MA in Theatre Arts from BYU. She obtained her PhD in Theatre History and Criticism from the University of Minnesota. Among her many accomplishments, Jones’ work about religious performance in 19th-20th century America has been published in Theatre Journal, The State of the Art, and Theatre Topics. In 2009, Routledge published her book, Performing America in Anti-Mormon Melodrama. Jones is also a director and choreographer with credits including Perestroika (Loring Playhouse, MN), Great Expectations (ARTE, UT), Crazy for You, Holes, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (BYU), and Arabian Nights (BYU). She has received awards from the Mormon History Association and the BYU Faculty Women’s Association for her dedication and contributions to general education.

Very successful in her field, Jones has spent much of her time here at BYU blessing the lives of her students, helping them reach new heights in education.
