Profile

Josh McDaniel serves as the Assistant Dean/Controller for BYU’s College of Fine Arts and Communications. Josh grew up in the small town of La Jara, Colorado, where he developed a love for the outdoors, sports, the gospel, and hard work. He attended Ricks College for a year before serving in the Chile, Santiago West Mission. Upon his return, he continued his studies at Brigham Young University–Idaho (during its transition from Ricks), where he met his wife, Susan, from Wainwright, Alberta, Canada.

Josh graduated in Recreation Leadership and Business before earning a second bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Adams State College. He began his career in public accounting, gaining experience in tax, audit, banking, and non-profit work before coming to BYU in 2008. Since then, Josh has held finance leadership roles in Continuing Education, the Office of Information Technology, and Religious Education. Along the way, he earned a master’s degree in Public Administration. In his current role, he provides oversight for finances and compliance. When he’s not at work, Josh can usually be found working on a car or enjoying the outdoors with Susan and their children.
