Alice Production Showcases Student Work in Choreography, Makeup and Projection Design
Theatre Ballet Studio Company invites audiences to step into a world of wonder with Alice, an all-new original ballet inspired by Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass.”
“We aim to make a show that will delight audiences of all ages—one that includes whimsy, depth, spectacle, and artistry,” said artistic director Hilary Wolfley. “We are focusing on being choreographically innovative within the classical ballet vocabulary in this reimagination of Alice’s adventures.”
Wolfley collaborated with student choreographers Isabel Walker and Aubree Owen to bring the production to life, with new choreography and music curated from multiple composers. Makeup design is by student artist Shaina Romney, and animated projections are being created by student designer Erica Flynn under the mentorship of production designer Erin Bjorn. Aerial work, facilitated by Adam Dyer, will add to the show’s visual spectacle.
Blending elements from both “Alice in Wonderland" and “Through the Looking-Glass,” the production invites audiences to reflect on how moments of confusion and growth help us better understand ourselves.
Guest performers from Theatre Ballet will also present “Simply Mozart” by Melinda Howe and “Venus D’Milo: A Way to See Where Other Things Are” by Eva Stone before the premiere of “Alice.”
