2022 CONVOCATION FAQS

  • The answer is Yes, and Yes! The College of Fine Arts and Communications is thrilled to hold our first in-person convocation ceremonies since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Graduates will receive a limited number of tickets (4); additional guests will be seated in a nearby overflow venue. The event will also be livestreamed at on the Convocation 2022 page

  • At this time, due to decreasing Covid-19 case numbers and increasing rates of vaccination on campus, BYU event protocols do not require vaccination proof or masks. If changes in circumstances require a change to this protocol, notification will go out to all graduates in advance of commencement and convocation.

  • The 2022 commencement ceremony is the university-wide event that will take place in the Marriott Center on Thursday, April 21, at 10:00 am.

    The College of Fine Arts and Communications convocation ceremonies will take place on Friday, April 22, in the de Jong Concert Hall in the Harris Fine Arts Center. Convocation sessions will celebrate the accomplishments of students in our college. Graduates will be presented onstage and their names will be read. Because of the size of our college and the number of graduates, we will hold three separate convocation sessions:

    Department of Dance, School of Music,  Department of Theatre and Media Arts3:00 pm

  • Promptly contact the College of Fine Arts and Communications Advisement Center by calling 801-422-3777 or by coming to our D444 HFAC office location during business hours to schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to determine if it is still possible to apply and graduate.

  • The following viewing options are available to make the College of Fine Arts and Communications convocation ceremonies accessible for as many graduates’ guests as possible:

    1. Free ticketed seating (4 guest tickets per graduate) in the de Jong Concert Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center
    2. General overflow seating in the Madsen Recital Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center
    3. Online streaming:  http://convocation.byu.edu or via a banner on the College of Fine Arts and Communications website https://cfac.byu.edu/   

  • Tickets for the college convocation ceremonies will be limited to 4 per graduate and will be available online according to the schedule below. Students will receive an email from the College of Fine Arts and Communications Advisement Center (cfacadvise@byu.edu) on March 15th with a unique promotional code to obtain their tickets online. The promotional code is NOT a ticket. Graduates can use the promotional code to claim their tickets online. Please note that this includes College of Fine Arts and Communications December 2021 graduates, and finalized applicants for April 2022, June 2022, or August 2022 only.

  • Due to strict seating limitations, it might be possible for a spouse, sibling, or parent to participate in our college convocation. If you choose this option, you must come into the Fine Arts and Communications Advisement Center as soon as possible (D444 HFAC). Tickets will not be provided and only overflow seating is guaranteed for your guests. Additionally, your major and degree will not be acknowledged. You may choose to check with the other college to see if walking with them would be more accommodating for you and your guests.

  • In-person guests at College of Fine Arts and Communications convocation ceremonies will be able to view and download a PDF of the convocation program on the website, or via QR codes that will be posted throughout the venue. Additionally, graduates will receive two printed commemorative programs during the convocation ceremony itself.

  • We’re celebrating College of Fine Arts and Communications graduating seniors on our college Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts. We will also be posting stories and additional materials at convocation.byu.edu.

    You may also participate by submitting a story, video or photo that celebrates your time at BYU and we will feature it on our social media pages. Please follow this link to submit your story.

  • Island Photography will be on site to take on-stage graduation portraits that will be available for purchase. Information about ordering can be found here:
