Brigham Young University's Harp Ensemble presents its Christmas concert Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Brigham Young University’s Jazz Voices will perform its concert titled “Joyful Noise III” Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The Brigham Young University Combined Choirs and Philharmonic Orchestra will present their annual Christmas concert, “A Celebration of Christmas,” Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 1, at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Students from the Brigham Young University School of Music will be performing solo and ensemble works by Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel in “Debussy/Ravel: An Anniversary Celebration” Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 6 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center.

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents the debut of the BYU Opera Chorus, their newest ensemble, in concert Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Students should be aware that Brigham Young University has made an important policy change that could affect future education and graduation. Please note the following as contained in the 2012—2013 undergraduate catalog: Students must select and declare a major by the time they have 60 earned BYU credit hours (excluding language exam credits). Once a student has 75 earned BYU credit hours (excluding language exam credits), they will not be allowed to change their major, unless special permission is granted. Vocal Point's new music video was recently released and featured on the BYU homepage. The video shares a touching version of 'Danny Boy' from the male a capella group's new album. The video was released to advertise their concert this weekend at the Covey Center for the Arts this Friday and Saturday. Tiffany Solis, from BYU Records relates, 'The most beloved song of Gordon B. Hinckley, 'Danny Boy' was originally intended as a love song sung by a girl to her sweetheart, but it is now more often associated with brotherly affection between friends. When McKay Crockett collaborated with Keith McKay Evans for this arrangement, Keith viewed the lyrics in a different way: about a father struggling to share his feelings with his departing son. In the newly written final verse, the father contemplates that perhaps he will outlive his precious Danny Boy.' Watch and listen to this interpretation of 'Danny Boy' in the video below:

Brigham Young University’s Department of Dance will present the dancEnsemble fall concert Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16-17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Richard’s Building Auditorium. There will also be a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Nov. 17.

The Brigham Young University Singers and Concert Choir will perform in concert Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16-17, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Vocal Point, Brigham Young University’s celebrated male a cappella group, will perform in concert at the Covey Center for the Arts on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16-17, at 7:30 p.m. and a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m.

The Brigham Young University Performing Arts Series welcomes the Utah Symphony conducted by Thierry Fischer with guest violinist Hilary Hahn to the de Jong Concert Hall Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
