The Brigham Young University Cougar Marching Band will leave the field at LaVell Edwards Stadium to perform in concert Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Mark A. Magleby, a BYU art history faculty member since 1997, has been appointed as the new director of the Brigham Young University Museum of Art, Stephen M. Jones, dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communications announced Wednesday.

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents the Jazz Legacy Dixieland Band in concert with The New Hot 5 Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. A second performance at 9 p.m. has been added. Both events are free.

Brigham Young University Broadcasting received a Regional Emmy Award at ceremonies in Phoenix, Ariz., for its program 'Nexos' which airs Saturdays on BYUtv International.

BYU's male a cappella group Vocal Point returned to compete in the Top 10 of NBC's 'The Sing-Off' on Monday. After their classic rock 'n roll performance, the judges had only positive things to say, and they will be continuing onto the next round of the competition.

Living Legends recently returned from a three-week whirlwind tour to Russia, where they performed for 19,347 people in live audiences. This was the group’s first visit to the country and the first time a BYU performing group had traveled to the nation in 11 years. The group presented 21 concerts in cities such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, and Tyumen. Four of the cities had never before been visited by a BYU performing group, and audiences were equally enthusiastic. Through performances, assemblies, workshops, televised appearances, and radio spots, the group captivated the hearts of over two million people.

Scott Holden, Brigham Young University School of Music faculty artist, will present a piano recital on Friday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. This performance is free. Holden will perform a number of classical numbers including works by Mozart, Haydn and Liszt. There will also be a few movements of Vernon Duke's 'Parisian Suite' performed in the middle of the program. He enjoys an active career as soloist, chamber musician and teacher, and he has performed in 30 different American states and nine European countries as well as Canada and Mexico. As first-prize winner of the 1996 Leschetizky New York Debut Competition, he made his Carnegie Recital Hall concert debut. He has also performed at the John F. Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center. Performances have been aired on CBC, NPR and NBC, and he has had many radio and television appearances on KBYU. Holden is a member of BYU's popular American Piano Quartet.
