Within the Stillness: A Journey of a Dancing Life

Professor Song Glenn gave a lecture for the 2021-2022 Faith + Works Lecture Series on December 2. Professor Song Glenn discussed the moments of stillness in her life in which she found peace and more guidance from God in being able to understand how to help those participating in the arts going through physical and emotional burdens.

Bio

Keely Song Glenn is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Brigham Young University and a Certified Laban Movement Analyst. She received her MFA in dance from The University of Iowa and was awarded the prestigious Dean’s Graduate Fellowship. Previously, she graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in dance and after high school received her B.A. in dance education from Brigham Young University.

While in Ohio, Ms. Song Glenn was the recipient of the Individual Arts Excellence Award in Choreography presented by the Ohio Arts Council and the Gravity’s Ripple III Choreographic Residency Award sponsored by the Dublin Arts Council and OhioDance. She was also the recipient of three Greater Columbus Arts Councils Artists Grants and a dance educator with Balletmet.

Currently, Keely directs the BYU Contemporary Dance Theatre where she strives to create a community and environment of excellence and joy. Her favorite moments as a teacher and mentor are seeing her students fully immersed in the collaborative and creative processes. When she is not in the dance studio you will find her with her husband and three sons on a mountain, in a slot canyon, or practicing the cello.
