Celebrate 100 Years of Disney with Jazz Tribute Concert

National Jazz Museum Band in Harlem and International Jazz Stars Play Tribute to Disney in BRAVO! Concert

If you’re a Disney fan, jazz-enthusiast or simply count yourself among the dreamers who believe in wishing upon stars, BYU BRAVO! Professional Performing Arts Series’ next concert is one you won’t want to miss. The “When You Wish Upon a Star” concert celebrates 100 years of Disney magic through jazz music. BRAVO! will host the five-piece house band of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem in a night of unforgettable music. The band will perform jazz renditions of well-known Disney songs including, “Someday My Prince Will Come,” “The Bare Necessities” and “Everybody Wants to Be a Cat.”

The band will be led by pianist and music director Sean Mason and will feature vocalists Kim Nalley and Sasha Dobson. Mason studied at The Juilliard School under the late pianist Frank Kimbrough, has performed at the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s “Live From Dizzy’s” Series and is featured in Jazz Night in America’s inaugural class of “Youngbloods,” a sub-series featuring five up-and-coming jazz geniuses who are revolutionizing the genre. Nalley was awarded "Most Influential African American in the Bay Area" in 2005 and "Best Jazz Group" in 2013. Dobson is a founding member of the band “Puss n Boots” (alongside Grammy winner Norah Jones) and has performed around the world. These world renowned voices, paired with the historic sounds of the National Jazz Museum’s band, will make for an unforgettable evening.

“Who doesn’t know ‘Someday My Prince Will Come’ or ‘The Bare Necessities’?” said BRAVO! Series producer/presenter Lyndsay Keith. “Jazz cats will love this celebration of 100 years of Disney with iconic songs brought to life by the house band of The National Jazz Museum in Harlem. This will be a swinging, grooving evening for the whole family to enjoy!”
