For those who enjoy the resonant rhythms of percussion ensembles, BYU’s Panoramic Steel and Percussion ensembles will hold performances on Mar. 25 and Mar. 31. Both concerts, ‘Global Rhythm’ and ‘Classical Percussion,’ will be performed in BYU’s new Music Building.

BYU Panoramic Steel, an ensemble directed by Jeremy Grimshaw and Darren Bastian, will join BYU’s gamelan ensemble, Gamelan Bintang Wahyu, in performing music from the cultures of Trinidad and Bali. They will be joined by Brian Zator, the Director of Percussion at Texas A&M University-Commerce and a past president of the Percussive Arts Society.

The BYU Percussion Ensemble, directed by Matt Coleman, will perform with BYU’s advanced percussion quartet, Tangents, directed by Darren Bastian. Their repertoire will encompass both old and new forms of percussional works.

Take advantage of BYU Percussion’s free-for-all concerts and head to the Music Building to enjoy two rhythm-filled nights!
