Jared Sampson runs @streetsandbeats, a creative outlet consisting of his philanthropic street drumming, the popular CarLights videos, and whatever else piques his creative mind.
"Streets and Beats videos have been viewed almost 30 million times and have gotten shares from artists like The Weeknd and Awolnation. We've also produced original electronic music for our videos with Cosmo and the Dunk Team," said Sampson who minors in music.
"I've always thought of music and art as a way of communicating emotion. When my handle on words fails me music has frequently filled the gaps. As a missionary in West Africa, I was left to teach without a companion my entire second transfer in a new language," he said. Sampson was about to baptize a 17-year-old boy, but the boy's grandmother wouldn't allow it first. With no hymnbook, he sang alone, in Englis and without words, the grandmother signed his form and allowed the baptism. #ArtsAtBYU #byuMusic
