Jessica Ashby is an Acting major and a dancer who has much enthusiasm for her art. She adds that she loves acting because it helps her understand the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
"When I take on a role, I have the opportunity to put myself into the shoes of someone with a totally different life and experience what it might be like to be them! It has helped me to gain more empathy for people and the choices they make," she said. "Through this, I feel that I better understand how the Savior is truly able to love us unconditionally because He knows exactly what we feel like. It’s the coolest thing for me to experience a small portion of that!"
She has gone through stages of transformation that has fueled her love for what she does. "You wouldn’t believe it now, but I used to be pretty quiet and shy. Getting involved in musical theatre in high school just did something to me that helped me to gain confidence in who I am! I have a strong desire to share that joy with others as I perform and maybe even in teaching and helping others to find that confidence I did!"
