As well as performing, CDT focuses on rigorous daily practice and promotes collaborative communication and a physical, spiritual and mental resilience. To Adam Dyer, co-director of CDT with Kate Monson, this is what makes their performances special. “I think our current students make this show unique,” he said. “This group has a special camaraderie that is really exciting to watch. I have witnessed their exceptional ability to deliver many different textures, styles and physical storytelling qualities that will make this concert an inspiring night of theatre and dance.”
Dyer views live performances such as this one a unique blessing for the BYU campus community. “Our hope is that our company offers the audience a night of thought provoking and inspiring experiences,” he said. “In return the audience enriches our students by engaging with us, giving our students the opportunity to share their craft and culminate their learning experiences through performance.”
To celebrate the 50th anniversary season of CDT, there will be an alumni event in conjunction with their evening performance on Saturday, February 15. Alumni are invited to attend the concert, enjoy a dinner together, take classes and listen to Kathie Debenham speak about the creation of Dancers’ Company (now CDT).
