BYU Professor Douglas Thomas to Speak on “Negative Spaces” at College Faith and Works Lecture Series

Thomas will address how negative spaces in everyday life can help draw near to the Savior

Professor Douglas Thomas will be speaking at the Faith and Works Lecture on November 4th at 11 a.m. Thomas is an Assistant Professor of Design at BYU and his work has been featured in Abitare, AIGA Eye on Design, Communication Arts, Design Observer, Eye Magazine, Metropolis, Print and Graphis.

Thomas graduated with a BFA in graphic design from BYU, received an MA in social science from the University of Chicago and an MFA in graphic design from the Maryland Institute College of Art. 

Thomas teaches courses on graphic design where he strives to create a community environment of creativity and joy. He will be speaking to students about how, as in design, “negative spaces” also apply to everyday life, and how to use negative space for growing faith in the Savior.
