It’s Orchestra Season! Check Out Two Free Music Events in BYU’s Newly Constructed Music Building
Various BYU ensembles and orchestras will hold several free concerts Apr. 10-15, including the University Orchestra/University Strings and BYU Symphony Orchestra. Usually, one would need to pay for these experiences, but because of the ongoing construction, tickets are not required for these events this year. Seating is general admission, first-come-first-serve. Read about the two events below.
University Orchestra and University Strings

Both the University Orchestra and University Strings orchestras are made up of solely non-majors, conducted by master’s candidates for BYU’s orchestral conducting program. They will perform pieces that celebrate storytelling through music, including “Winter” from Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” and Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet” Fantasy Overture.
BYU Symphony Orchestra

Music Building: Concert Hall
Christian Smith will conduct BYU’s Symphony Orchestra for a performance in the Concert Hall. This orchestra is auditioned, and the performance will feature music from selected composers hailing from several parts of Europe and America, including Bernstein and Mendelssohn.
