The Department of Visual Arts Presents a Department-wide Seminar with Ronny Edry

The Department of Visual Arts invites the students and faculty of the College of Fine Arts and Communications to attend a department-wide seminar featuring Israeli graphic designer Ronny Edry on March 14 at 11:00 a.m. in 2107 JKB.

Without realizing how big of an impact he would make, Ronny Edry started a viral online anti-war campaign by sharing a poster of himself and his daughter that proclaimed his love for Iranians on Facebook. The poster read, “Iranians, we will never bomb your country, we you.” The graphic designer’s bold move quickly gained attention and respect from fellow Israelis and from Iranians when war between Israel and Iran seemed imminent.

As a graphic designer and illustrator, Edry’s timely and important message of love stood out to the community around him. Through a succession of events, Edry co-founded the Peace Factory, Ido Nisan Arazi, which continues to grow and to spread anti-war messages around the world. Although Edry recognizes his contribution to the world may be small, his visit to BYU’s campus will teach students that a timely and simple message can make a huge positive impact on a community.
