BYU Ballroom Dance Company’s Annual Winter Showcase To Feature World-Renowned Medleys
Brian McDonald, President of the National Dance Council of America, recently said that the BYU Ballroom Dance Company productions rival the best entertainment shows in Las Vegas and New York. Their upcoming “Ballroom Dance Company in Concert: Rhythm” performance will be no different. On April 12-13 in the Marriott Center, this spectacular display of artistry and athleticism is the perfect way to end the winter semester.
The performance will showcase the beauty of ballroom and Latin dance, and it will feature choreography by international dancers Alex Chernositov and Arina Grishinina. Audiences will get to enjoy Ballroom Dance Company’s “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Somebody to Love” medleys which have both won first place awards at the Blackpool Dance Festival in England.
“Each year, the entire Ballroom Dance Company presents their annual concert on the last weekend of winter semester,” said Ballroom Dance Company artistic director Curt Holman. “This production is a spectacular experience that includes the most elite dancers at the university presenting award-winning artistic choreography.”
This concert will kick off a summer of touring for the Ballroom Dance Company as they embark to perform their showcase in South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Holman said, “Experiences such as these are among the most impactful moments for the students at the university.”
