BYU dancEnsemble to present original choreography Nov. 9-10

by Aaron Searle

The Brigham Young University Department of Dance will present the dancEnsemble fall concert, “dancEnsemble: In Motion,” on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9-10, at 7:30 p.m. in 166 Stephen L. Richards Building.

Tickets will be $5 and can be purchased at the Fine Arts Ticket Office, by calling (801) 422-4322 or by visiting performances.byu.edu.

Unlike many performing groups at BYU, the modern dance-based dancEnsemble provides students an opportunity to present their own choreography. Hence, the performance will feature a wide range of moods, emotions and ideas.

For example, dancEnsemble member Ariel Hortin will present a piece that has something for everyone, with such varying themes as tug-o-war, zombies and hip-hop. Ashley Bradshaw, another ensemble member, will explore natural human behavior in her dance.

“Each piece performed will complement the overall diversity of the concert,” said Robin McLelland, a part-time faculty member in the Department of Dance.

Along with student works, the performance will also feature works by faculty members Pat Debenham and Pam Musil.
