The Brigham Young University Department of Dance will present its popular 'World of Dance' concerts Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 17-20, in the de Jong Concert Hall of the Harris Fine Arts Center.

Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets will be $8-12 and can be purchased at the Fine Arts Ticket Office, by calling (801) 422-4322 or by visiting byuarts.com.

The concert will feature performances by the Ballroom Dance Company, the Dancers’ Company, the International Folk Dance Ensemble, the Cougarettes and Theatre Ballet.

“The performance is a combination of all the best of the Dance Department groups,” said Benjamin Sanders, director of Dance Production. “In this entertainment showcase there is a little something for everyone covering all genres of dance.”

The program features ethnic, modern, jazz, classical ballet, theatre styles and international ballroom.

The Ballroom Dance Company will perform the Latin medley it performs in competition, “Drop that Beat,” as well as a traditional waltz.

Theatre Ballet will present several classical ballet numbers including “Masquerade,” an upbeat piece based on the colorful flair and animation of masquerade balls.

Dancers' Company will perform a spoof on removing mattress tags called “Do not Remove Under Penalty of Law,” and a modern dance to a Neil Diamond song.

The Cougarettes will perform “The Calm Before,” which was recognized at national and international competitions.

The International Folk Dance Ensemble will perform the high-energy clogging number “Last Night.”
