Be Still: Harnessing the Power of the Lord in Our Educational Journey

Kris Boyle is well-versed in the world of journalism and communications. On February 3, 2022 , Boyle spoke at the college Faith + Works Lecture Series on “Harnessing the Power of the Lord in Our Educational Journey.” He discussed what the phrase “be still” means to him and how faith, action, sacrifice and love have influenced him in doing the Lord’s work.

Bio

Kris Boyle, Ph.D is no stranger to BYU. An Idaho native, Dr. Boyle earned his bachelor’s degree (Print Journalism, 2001) and his master’s degree (Mass Communication, 2005) from the School of Communications. As an undergraduate, he spent several semesters working as a student editor for theUniverse, including one as managing editor. Dr. Boyle also worked as a reporter for the Idaho Falls Post Register from 2001-2003 before deciding to pursue his graduate degrees. He earned his Ph.D. in Mass Communications from Texas Tech University in 2008 and spent six years working as an assistant professor of journalism at Creighton University before returning to BYU. Dr. Boyle currently teaches undergraduate classes in media writing and editing. His research interests include the journalism’s use of new media technology, including social media. He is a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and has published articles in several peer-reviewed journals, including Newspaper Research Journal, Journal of Media & Religion, and Computers in Human Behavior. In his spare time, he loves to spend time with his beautiful wife and two amazing boys. He loves running, biking, and attending BYU sports events.
