This concert will be professor Brian Woodbury's first directing Synthesis, and professor Howard Summers's first directing Lab Band. When asked about what he hopes audiences enjoy about this performance, Woodbury states: “I hope audiences experience the joy this music brings—the spontaneity of improvisation mixed with carefully rehearsed ensemble passages creates a contagious energy. Jazz is a conversation, and when our students perform, they’re not just playing notes—they’re sharing stories, responding to each other and inviting the audience into that dialogue.”
