Experience Student Work on the Big Screen at the BYU Media Arts Program’s Annual First Look Film Festival

Catch the first glimpse of media arts students’ work this spring at BYU’s First Look Film Festival, an event that gives students the opportunity to share their films on the big screen. These short films include a wide array of styles and genres such as documentaries, fiction films, animated films, commercials and shot-for-shot recreations.
“It's valuable for students to be able to see their work on a big screen, and for them to have an audience watch it because then they get that instant reaction from the audience if something did or didn’t work,” said TMA program manager Kyle Stapley
First Look also provides opportunities for the public and local filmmakers to see the work of student filmmakers and the success they achieve in making their films. “It has happened quite often that local filmmakers come to the festival, like a certain style from a student and then reach out to them with a job offer or opportunity to work with them,” said Stapley. “We’re looking forward to having people come to see the talent these students have so that we can create those opportunities.”
