I have been looking forward to creating my senior capstone since I was accepted into the BFA Dance program at BYU back in 2022. I was amazed that my final project was a creation of my own. I had the opportunity to choose music for, choreograph, cast, and light an original dance piece. It was an opportunity I wouldn’t get anywhere other than the BYU Department of Dance.

Having the artistic freedom to make my own vision come to life was so inspiring. It made me feel like my career path is possible — it made it real for me. All of the hard work I put into rehearsing in the studios and creating movement in my small, shared apartment was worth it. My dreams of being a professional dancer and choreographer are no longer just dreams, they are real possibilities.

BYU has prepared me well for my career in dance. I've been given company and performance experience and opportunities to work with well-known dance artists and choreographers. My entire perspective on dance has changed for the better. I'm so grateful for my professors who have guided me so lovingly. The BYU Department of Dance has incredible instructors who care deeply about their dancers and those dancers’ futures. It's been an honor to be coached by them and, even more so, to be loved by them.
