Efforts | Open through February 19

In Meg Bates Lignell’s BFA capstone exhibition, “Efforts,” you will see concepts of work and futility represented through ceramics, live performance and video. The exhibit highlights the difficulties of perfectionism and other challenges through both intimately handmade objects and manufactured concepts. This show creates space to sit and ponder the intersection of effort, perfection and emotion.

Lucid Interval | Open through February 19

“Lucid Interval” is the capstone exhibition of BFA student Naomi Hernandez. The photos in this show describe quiescent spaces of rest between periods of insanity. The show reflects environments of seclusion, stillness and introspection.

HÓZHO + ART HEALS | Open through February 19

MFA student Eugene Tapahe creates art that bridges his Diné traditions and his modern experiences. “HÓZHO + ART HEALS” expresses Tapahe’s identity that is rooted in the elements of the earth. These elements bring a sense of peace, reverence and hózho, the Navajo word for balance and beauty. Tapahe aspires to share these teachings and promote healing and unity with Mother Earth. His thesis exhibition includes two projects. The first, “KÉYAH,” is a collection of soils from both the U.S. and Canada that emphasize the importance of land to all people. The second, titled “KÉYAH YIŁ,” is a video installation that pays homage to Tapahe’s ancestral connection with the earth.
