The Weight Room features two exhibitions from the Department of Art’s 2023 study abroad to Prague, Berlin and Basel. sometimes i’m lying in my bed and i feel like my body gets really small so i have to move to make sure i'm normal sized | Open until October 24

Brenna Cooper and Lizzie Windsor use photography, video and sculpture to invite viewers to explore ordinary moments, celebrate the art of observation and present their own conclusions about their environments. The exhibition encourages all to ask questions about life and seek out answers.

Trash | Open through October 24

Jenna Wilson and Clara Beth Hamill created drawings and prints while studying abroad with the Department of Art this past summer. Wilson rendered pen drawings of trash combined with her written observations of the day. Hamill gathered flattened garbage from the streets of European cities, rolled them with ink, and printed them on paper, creating compelling black and white images.

Uncertainty | Opens October 26

Courtney Seamons Yeatman’s exhibition in the Weight Room uses oil paint on panel to describe feeling helpless while choosing a path in life. The paintings tell a story of loss through images of natural phenomena, such as fire and water. The exhibition serves as a reminder that even though things can get hard, good things will come.

Primal Forces: Earth | Open until December 28

Featuring pieces from Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc., each quilt in this exhibition stitches together a story of the nurturing and destructive powers of the earth, showing that “all life on this planet depends on earth but the very soil that nurtures growth can just as easily destroy.”
