Hexnut will present “Wrench — A Choreography Between Music and Image” Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall at Brigham Young University.
A pre-concert reception will feature an in-gallery discussion of works from “Industrial Sublime: Photographs by Edward Burtynsky,” a BYU Museum of Art exhibit. The reception will be held in the museum’s lower level from 6 to 7 p.m., and several works from the exhibit will be featured in the “Wrench” concert. The exhibit will continue on display through Nov. 16.
Admission to both events is free and the public is welcome to attend.
Hexnut is an Amsterdam-based ensemble of five soloists that mixes the styles, sounds and playing techniques of contemporary classical, jazz, metal, improvisation and cartoon music. “Wrench” will blend a program of new music and the images of award-winning photographer Edward Burtynsky into a performance of integrated sound and projected image.
The compositions by Jan-Bas Bollen, David Dramm, Anthony Fiumara, Ned McGowan, Mayke Nas, Seung-Ah Oh, Felipe Waller and BYU music professor Steve Ricks will combine into a single set without pause.
