Student Photographer | JR-1195
Job Description:
Are you looking for an opportunity to expand your visual portfolio? Would you like hands-on experience in creating high-quality visual media content, including photos, videos, and graphics?
The External Relations Office of the College of Fine Arts and Communications is looking for a creative photographer / visual media specialist to capture and create stunning visuals for the college and the six academic units within the college (Art, Communications, Dance, Design, Music, Theatre & Media Arts). Our visual media specialist handles photo requests; shoots college events, projects and building construction; and edits photos and footage using available software.
Responsibilities:
- Photograph events, performances, individuals and groups to supplement editorial and social media coverage
- Coordinate with the Assistant Dean, External Relations team and other centers, departments and areas within the college
- Retouch photos using available software (Photoshop, Lightroom)
- Promote the college through high-quality and engaging photographs
- Organize photoshoots and other multimedia efforts in accordance with the goals of the college
- Manage lighting and other set details
- Lead photo team meetings
OPTION TO RECEIVE DRONE CERTIFICATION:
- Capture drone footage/stills of new college construction
- Edit footage in available software
Qualifications:
- Extensive photography experience or education
- Training in photo/video editing software, particularly Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro
- Ability to work on short notice and under pressure
- Ability to work with subjects from a variety of backgrounds
- Familiar with Paul C. Buff (or similar) studio lighting
- Experience with photo/video retouching and online photo/video publication
- Ability to take candid shots in low light and quick-moving environments (including outdoor drone flyovers)
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to self-direct
- Schedule flexibility
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients and with other team members
- Working knowledge of Microsoft (Excel, Word, etc.) and Google programs (Sheets, Docs, etc.)
- Organization skills preferred
- Preferred: Drone operation training, certification and experience (training and certification through our office is a possibility if it has not already been obtained)

Student Writer/Editor| JR-969
Job Description

Do you love to write? Are you passionate about the arts? Are you looking for a fun, supportive office culture where you can build your professional portfolio? This job is ideal for a writer/editor who wants to gain experience writing in public relations and journalistic style.
The writer will work on releases and features for BYU OnStage and the six academic units within the college (Art, Communications, Dance, Design, Music, Theatre & Media Arts). Articles will focus on events and student and faculty experiences. These articles are posted on the college and BYU OnStage websites. Recent examples can be found on cfac.byu.edu/news
Responsibilities:
- Write news releases and features for the college and school/department websites
- Track analytics on posted articles
- Create monthly reports for assigned beats
- Attend and report on college-sponsored events
- Interview college faculty, students and alumni
- Verify accuracy of facts, dates and statistics
- Work with supervisor on editing and preparing articles for publication
- Pitch story ideas for internal and external publication
- Upload articles and images onto the college and school/department websites
- Attend and participate in weekly meetings
- Collaborate on strategic projects
- Assist with other promotional items and college events as needed
Qualifications:
- Ability to adapt quickly to new challenges
- Strong writing, editing and communication skills
- Aptitude for learning new things and self-directing
- College experience in public relations, journalism or a related field is preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook and AP style preferred

Job Description:
Part-time student public relations coordinator for the External Relations Office of the College of Fine Arts and Communications (CFAC). Work with the External Relations Office to develop and execute social media, web, editorial and public relations efforts for the college and the six academic units within the college (Art, Communications, Dance, Design, Music, Theatre & Media Arts).
This position is ideal for students in the public relations or communications field, user design experience (UX), or within the College of Fine Arts and Communications with an interest in strategic planning, social media, graphic design or writing.
Responsibilities include:
- Help with creating monthly reports to track analytics
- Create newsletters and graphics
- Assist in creation and execution of strategy for college campaigns and projects
- Assist and direct the student external relations team (social media specialists, writers and web developers)
- Attend and lead office meeting weekly
- Draft and send emails to faculty, staff and students
- Maintain and update workflows
- Research and create presentations
- Assist in the preparation of reports
- Maintain digital and manual filing systems
Qualifications:
- One year of relevant experience encouraged
- Ability to manage a team and their projects

Part-time student web developer for the External Relations Office of the College of Fine Arts and Communications who aids the Assistant Dean of External Relations in maintaining, constructing and improving websites for the college, BYU Arts and the six academic units within the college (Art, Communications, Dance, Design, Music, Theatre & Media Arts, Museum of Art, Advisements). The job involves working closely with others to build these sites as well as troubleshooting and debugging them. This position is ideal for technical majors such as Information Technology or Computer Science.
Responsibilities:
- Help with creating monthly reports to track analytics
- Maintain and construct CMS websites for the college and support websites for academic areas
- Field requests in a professional and friendly manner
- Conduct web audits
- Track web activity using Google Analytics
- Manage and update files

Operations PR Coordinator (part-time 17.5 hours/week)
Do you want to work in strategic communications in a dynamic setting? This job is ideal for an individual who wants PR agency experience in a university setting. We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented and self-driven individual to coordinate strategy, work with clients and manage the External Relations day-to-day operations.
What you’ll do in this position:
- Assist in implementing the college’s strategic communications for campaigns
- Assist in recruitment, experiential and inspiring learning of External Relations team
- Assist in developing and carrying out strategies to promote events, performances and units within the college (contests/campaigns)
- Assist the Assistant Dean in developing coordination, communication and information processes between the college and its academic units
- Supervise student employees in the External Relations office
- Assist with managing and messaging for communication to key publics of the college
- Assist the admin, social, editorial, web and photo/design teams
What qualifies you for this role:
