With 50 years of experience, Ballet Hispánico is one of America’s Cultural Treasures and the largest Latino cultural organization in the United States. The group uses dance productions, dance training and community engagement experiences to celebrate and explore Latino culture.

Ballet Hispánico will share its talents with BYU through its dance experience and expression. This season is especially notable as the company celebrates its 50th anniversary season.

During its visit at BYU, Ballet Hispánico will perform a variety of numbers. “Arabesque” is a suite of dances performed to music by Spanish composer Enrique Granados as dancers exhibit balletic contemporary phrase work with a hint of Flamenco influence. In “Tiburones,” Latino discrimination and stereotypes are addressed as Annabelle Lopez Ochoa works to present authenticity of Puerto Rican icons.

The performance will take place in the Harris Fine Arts Center Pardoe Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 4.
