November 19, 2014 4:00 PM

Education in Zion Auditorium (B-192 JFSB)

BYU Professor of Illustration Robert T. Barrett will be the featured speaker at the 'My Journey as a Scholar of Faith' series, presented by the BYU Faculty Center. Barrett received a BFA in painting from the University of Utah in 1973 and an MA and MFA in painting from the University of Iowa in 1975 and 1976. In 1995 he was awarded the Karl G. Maeser Award for Teaching Excellence at BYU, and in 2004 he was awarded the Karl G. Maeser Research and Creative Arts Award. He was recently selected as the 2010 “Distinguished Educator in the Arts” by the Society of Illustrators in New York City.

This series features scholars who have been thoughtful about the relationship between their religious faith and their work as academic scholars. The scholars share their personal journey to understand how faith and intellect work together currently in their personal and professional lives. The journey of each scholar will be unique and a work in progress, yet the principles in the stories will be useful for all of us as we pursue our own journeys. Attendees will be inspired by these journeys of faith and intellect.
