Did you know that Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” was originally published 300 years ago in 1725? What better way to celebrate this iconic piece of music than by a special performance by Les Arts Florissants, hosted by the BYU BRAVO! Professional Performing Arts Series. Les Arts Florissants is a world-renowned Baroque ensemble based in France, specializing in performances on period instruments. They will be joined by violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte. Together they will perform “Vivaldi’s Four Seasons at 300,” featuring music that Vivaldi himself would have known in Venice as well as modern compositions that were inspired by his bold musical vision.

“If you know any one piece of classical music, it’s likely Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, Mozart’s ‘Eine kleine Nachtmusik,’ or Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons.’ You may not have even heard the latter in concert, but you know it from movie soundtracks, ads and even ringtones,” said BRAVO! Series producer and presenter Lyndsay Keith. “There are few things created in 1725 that are still popular today, but ‘Four Seasons’—celebrating its 300th anniversary in 2025—is one of them!”

The Foundation Les Arts Florissants has helped audiences rediscover the spirit of Baroque for the past 40 years through music, festivals, gardens and education programs. Co-directed by William Christie and Paul Agnew, Les Arts Florissants performs approximately 130 concerts a year and includes 290 artists. The ensemble plays European music from the 17th and 18th centuries by composers such as Handel, Charpentier, Monteverdi, Rameau, Bach and Purcell.

“Les Arts Florissants is one of the pre-eminent Baroque ensembles in the world today, and I can think of no one better to commemorate this special milestone,” Keith said.

Rediscover the joy of Baroque music and celebrate Vivaldi’s masterpiece in this one-of-a-kind BRAVO! performance.
