Violin performance graduate from April 2023
This is not an individual project, but I had the opportunity to go on tour to Europe with the BYU Chamber Orchestra last spring, and we were able to do some really neat things. We performed a concert for refugees from Ukraine, and it was one of the most special performances I have ever had. We played a piece that has become an anthem of sorts for Ukraine, and as I looked into the faces of the audience after that piece, I was moved to tears. Many of them were also crying, but you could just feel the loss they had experienced, and the uncertainty they had for their futures. I saw the impact of this music on their lives, and it definitely changed the way I view the music I play. It made me want to focus more on the feelings and impact that I can give to the audience when I am performing, and I’m truly humbled and grateful to have been a part of something so special.
