Music Building Dedicatory Service

Elder D. Todd Christofferson Dedicates the New BYU Music Building

Elder D. Todd Christofferson, member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, offered the dedicatory prayer for the BYU Music Building dedication ceremony on April 16. He was accompanied by Commissioner of the Church Educational System and General Authority Seventy, Elder Clark G. Gilbert.

Elder Christofferson and BYU President C. Shane Reese both spoke. They pointed to the new facility, the people who helped make it possible and the students who will be blessed by it.

President Reese referenced President Spencer W. Kimball’s address from 1975 stating that the “brilliant stars in music” will be refined during their time at BYU. This new building will help current students and faculty build upon the college’s remarkable past.

Along with these profound words, a choral chamber ensemble performed “Nuper Rosarum Flores.” The BYU Philharmonic Orchestra played “Symphony No. 3, ‘Organ Symphony’: Finale.”
