Illustration graduate from April 2023
I chose to come to BYU because they had a renowned animation program and when I was younger I thought I wanted to be an animator. When I had received a talent award accepting me into the illustration program right out of high school, it changed my career path. Through the illustration program I learned I wanted to become a concept artist. It wasn’t until I worked on the video game Capstone project, "Liminus: The Silent Guard," which won 3rd place in the Rookie Awards, that I wanted to be a concept artist in the video game industry. I again started to shift gears with what I wanted to do and began working on my art to be geared more towards video game production. During my senior year at BYU, I was asked to art direct the current video game Capstone project, "Solar Showdown." I have learned so much from my professors and from my classmates and those I’ve had the opportunity to work with on the Capstone projects. I don’t think I would be where I am today thanks to Seth Holladay, Sam Nielson and Parris Egbert. They have helped me grow into the artist I am today and I can only hope to stay in touch with them and continue to learn more from them. My plan after graduation is to flesh out my portfolio more and to become a concept artist within the video game industry and to help make games that bring joy to others.
