SCREAMING AT A WALL
Richard Graham discusses how his faith has shaped both his life and his career in film. He talks about how he has been able to incorporate gospel themes in his various films without directing them solely towards an LDS audience.
Bio
Robert Machoian Graham is an Associate Professor of photography in the Design Department at Brigham Young University.
Robert was raised in King City, a small town in central California. After traveling parts of the United States, and attending a few junior colleges, Robert received his Bachelor’s degree from California State Univerity Monterey Bay. While there he made an experimental narrative short film titled Ella and the Astronaut with collaborator Rodrigo Ojeda-Beck, which went on to play festivals internationally, such as the Mill Valley Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, Copenhagen Film Festival, and others.
He then attended University of California, Davis. While a second year there he made a film with collaborator Rodrigo Ojeda-Beck, titled Charlie and the Rabbit. It was accepted into the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and has since gone on to play Film Festivals internationally, recently winning Best Short Film at the Festival International de curtmetratges Mas Sorrer in Costa Brava, Spain. In addition, he also made another Experimental Film, titled Symphony No. 1 in four parts, which also has gone on to play International Film Festivals, such as Athens Ohio Film and Video Film Festival.
He was the director of the film God Bless the Child, which won the Best Narrative Feature award at the 2015 Atlanta Film Festival.
