RUN THROUGH SPRINKLERS | SAMUEL EVERETT

Samuel Everett’s final show, “Run Through Sprinklers”, is a large-scale project incorporating photography, video, sound, and installation work.

“I am interested in exploring childhood, fantasy, family, masculinity and identity. I have many fond memories of running through sprinklers, and on hot summer days, I often wish I could run through them with the same abandon as a child,” he said.

Everett said “Run Through Sprinklers” constructs characters and fictional narratives from different facets of his identity.

“In some way the characters serve as a psychological analysis of my adult development and coming of age. Drawing from objects that hold particular value to me, I hope to construct an alternate world and narrative that are relatable to an outside audience,” Everett said.

Although much of the inspiration for this show comes from Everett’s own memories, he hopes that the show brings personal memories to the mind of the viewer and elicits a conflicting emotional response: happy and sad, scary and funny.
