TMA Alum and Disney Executive Ben Hoppe to Deliver Alumni Achievement Lecture

Alum Ben Hoppe Returns to BYU for Homecoming 2023

Once upon a time, on BYU campus, Ben Hoppe wished upon a star — and it guided him to the enchanting world of Disney.

Ben Hoppe (BA 98’ Theatre and Media Art) will return to BYU this year as the College of Fine Arts and Communications 2023 Alumni Achievement Awards Honoree. Hoppe will address students during homecoming week on Thursday, October 19.

Hoppe’s history with BYU began as a high school student, when he attended the BYU Summer Theatre Workshop. “Early experiences at BYU solidified my desire to attend the university after graduating high school,” Hoppe said.

After following his dreams to Los Angeles to pursue acting, Hoppe’s passion for creativity led him to join the Disney Character Voices department at The Walt Disney Company in 2001. Hoppe has been a creative director at Disney since 2009.

“Every moment of your life provides experiences that will, often unwittingly, prepare you for unexpected opportunities,” said Hoppe. “Be open to them.”

Hoppe works with business partners inside and outside of Disney, specializing in voice acting direction for Disney and Pixar animated characters. He has directed thousands of recording sessions and worked with newcomers, celebrities and seasoned voice-acting professionals.

Hoppe’s lecture, “Preparation for Possibility: The Plan of Happiness & a Stewardship-Focused Career,” will take place at the Mainstage Theatre at West Campus.

Lecture Date and Time: Thursday Oct. 19, 2023 | 11:00 a.m.

Location: West Campus Central Building Auditorium
