“Our world is a crazy place, particularly right now with many important issues that will influence the course of the future. This project allowed me to gain perspective which is vital to determining our own actions and opinions. Working with so many different artists opened the way for ideas to be shared and relationships to be made. This project allowed me to make some of my favorite friendships with people I probably would have never truly gotten to know. Perspective and relationships are so significant to the paths of the future.”

STUDENT LEARNS THE INS AND OUTS OF TAKING DANCE FROM THE STAGE TO THE SCREEN

This experience was among the most unique and enriching I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. Through the duration of this project I was able to participate through choreography, film, costuming, music, and even performance for our live show version of this piece. The ability to connect to dance and contribute through so many facets was a learning experience that allowed me to gain perspective as well as balance. Practicing my craft of dance and movement was enriched in this experience through taking the time and dedication, along with the time and dedication of other Kinnect team members, to create, assemble, and polish this piece in its entirety. We collaborated with each other, with our director Angela Rosales Challis, music creators, videographers and elementary school children to produce this single project via film. I look forward to teaching and choreographing dance in the future and I know I will call upon lessons learned through this project to assist me in those future endeavors. The experience I gained with dance and film has also influenced me to look into a masters program for dance and film after graduation from BYU.
